Calling all Bachelor/Bachelorette fans! If you love the franchise like me, you would understand the emphasis behind me saying I worked out with THE Peter Kraus. Yes, I’m referring to the fan favorite from Rachel’s season of the bachelorette who people still wish was the Bachelor. But, in my opinion, he’s better off. Since being on the show he has successfully made a name and reputation for himself and for his brand, PK Fitness, which he has showcased to the world through numerous bootcamp workout classes and most recently, with the opening of his own gym in Madison, WI. I have had the opportunity to work out with Peter at his bootcamps in NY and can honestly it is worth it if you are at all curious what he and the workout are all about!
To backtrack a little, I originally met Peter about two years ago when he hosted his first bootcamps in the city. My friends and I had just finished watching his run on Rachel’s season and saw he had posted on social media about his upcoming class - we couldn’t reserve our tickets faster if we tried! I’ve taken various work out classes in the city and didn’t think his workout regime would be that much different nor as challenging, but boy I was SO wrong! Within those 50 minutes, I forgot about trying to look good in front of Peter and honestly was just trying to get through the circuits without wanting to die… he for sure kicked our asses! After class, everyone was given the opportunity to talk with him and take photos, which no one thought twice about and proceeded to bee-line it immediately outside the studio. I truthfully didn’t know what to expect when meeting him; It’s easy to assume a lot based on what is edited on TV, but I was pleased to find out that he is just as genuine, kind, and friendly in person as he was on the show. I chatted with him for a while asking him about the franchise, his experience since the show, and if he had any tips on marathon training. I left the class on such a high note and couldn’t wait to see him and take his workout class again.
Fast forward a couple of years and a couple of classes later, I have now taken three of his bootcamps, with the most recent one being a couple of weeks ago at the W Hotel in Times Square. The last couple of times I have taken his class, they were PACKED with girls swooning over him, so I showed up early to claim my spot, but to my surprise, the class was half of what it was supposed to be. I think he was surprised too, but it honestly worked out in my favor. The session itself became more intimate in the sense where we got more of a one on one training experience with Peter. I even lucked out with getting to work out with him during the partner round - it for sure was the icing on the cake! After a mix of lunges, stretches, jumps, and burpees (ugh), we were able to chill with Peter and take pics if we so choose (similar format to his previous pop-ups). This time, it was a nice change to not have to wait on a line and feel rushed to say hi; I was able to take my time and catch up with Peter since our last work out encounter. I also was able to network with the people assisting the event to understand more of how his bootcamps run behind the scenes. I left feeling more like a “regular” rather than just a fan of the show, and it honestly felt FAB!
If you follow Peter and have yet to go to one of his bootcamps, I highly recommend! It’s super easy to reserve a spot; you can access tickets simply through his Instagram account or his website. In my opinion, those are also the best ways to find out about any new upcoming events in the area. Or, if you live in Madison, WI definitely go take a class at his new gym. Either way, it’s worth trying and experiencing for yourself. If you don’t want to go alone, I’m happy to tag along! Don’t worry, I gotchu on that partner section! ;)
